Had to pay for my “Free” State e-file.

Due to time delays (COVID-19) had to file state return sometime after federal return. For some reason I was forced to pay for my State E-File even though it was included in the purchase of this service program.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

In accuracy check, i kept getting "you didn't tell us about your Health coverage". The instructions to get to the form to correct it led nowhere. Help function was no help. It said Health coverage was no longer required. I was forced to go through the entire interview process to fid where you asked about What kind of insurance I had. Also no instructions about where or when to send the check pay taxes owed. Even in your review section you show an asterisk but no explanation for it. or why you need a nickname or what it used for.
It’s a nice program but it makes it difficult to switch between the interview mode and the forms mode. In some cases reports a accuracy problem but doesn’t take you to the right place to fix it. One example is the question if you have health insurance.
If you are conscientious about keeping good records, this product is a breeze to use. If you need a little prompting, you’re still fine, as the application just about takes you by the hand to get through things. It’s terrific!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Too many flaws to be recommended, when I reported my Roth IRA access contribution. Admittedly, only a minority of tax filers need this to work smoothly. But it’s not something exotic either. I expect more.
It is to hard to get help when you need it. I am not a texting person and there are so phone number to call for help. Plus I was rejected by the IRS twice and the code no one what it meant.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
