I was a 20-year Block tax preparer, and have used HRB since retiring. This year, for the first time, I was disappointed in it. It did not seem nearly as smooth to use as in the past.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Missing or mis-labeled boxes

Review comes up with "missing" information. Example: State ID number entered. Asks for expiration date. Has a check box for "Does not expire" but even when checked it will not let you file with date box empty. I had to make up a date.
Review asking for information from a 1099 R form that is not requested during the interview. The box on the form requesting the info is not explained. I had to guess based on someone else's tax return form where to put the missing information.
