I chose HR Block tax software primarily because of cost. The functionallity seems consistent with other tax software, at less cost. Federal Tax seemed fine. Did not have any problems with it. Filed a partial year resident MD tax return, and had 2 errors in the program that I discovered. The pension exclusion calculation was entered twice, the second erroneously entered for military/first responders (worksheet 13E). Had to override this to set to zero. Also, the part-year resident indicator at the top of the form was not populated correctly, and had to override the field. Purchase of a second state seemed quite pricey to me.
Struggled with trying to get answers to these problems. There really is no resource that I found to report or document these problems and get a resolution.

I've used H&R Block Deluxe Software for several years. It's easy to navigate. There are always easy explanations of what certain terms mean. That's important, because we all know how dense and obtuse the IRS forms are. This product is a lot simpler than the tax program I used to use. This product offers federal and state tax forms. I love that I can file both at the same time.

The H&R Block Deluxe software is easy and intuitive to use. I've used a few different tax preparation software packages, and H&R Block has been the easiest (and most complete) to use. It doesn't miss anything (that I'm aware of). The only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is because when I use the "Forms" option from the menu bar, it displays not only the form I want to review but also the worksheets to arrive at the completed form (e.g. when I click on the 1040 page, it also shows the worksheets to arrive at the finished 1040 form). It does this with all the forms that I've clicked to display. Aside from this, it's an excellent tax prep software! This is one of the two reasons I have been using this software for more than 7 years. (The other reason being that it conveniently loads all the needed information (name, address, employer, etc.) from the previous year, and to switch software now would be inconvenient, tedious and time consuming). I would recommend this software to anyone who asked me.

It's pretty good, but I think it should be made easier to understand when it comes to things like capital gains, etc. Otherwise, it's a good app.

Did most things I needed. It did not integrate cryptocurrentcies well - would not incorporate the profit form into the tax document. I had to do it manually. Should have an easier interface, or be able to accept filled out forms from Koinly, and other crypto programs.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
