It seems the software was not up to date with respect to the fact that the deadline was _not_ April 15 anymore (due to COVID on 2020). At some point of the process the software alerted me something similar to the following: "According to the data you've given us so far, it seems you will have to pay a penalty to IRS. You may want to compute an estimation now or let IRS compute the penalty later and mail it to you".
I have been using HR block when it was Taxcut. Always makes the task of tax preparation easier.

My returns are often quite simple, but this yr I sold a house. It wasn't exactly straightforward as there were two owners who were formerly married. I called the help line and the person gave me a very good solution, that I hope works. We shall see, but both returns were accepted.
