For the past 5 years, I have purchased Deluxe Fed & State. I'm able to download and install the Federal package, but not the State software. I have to call the Help desk each year to have them email the state version. It works great once installed. I am using Windows 10. I kept getting the message....".Unable to connect to the server." I closed the firewall protection and even rebooted in safe mode, and still, I get the response that I am unable to connect to the server.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

This is a comprehensive and easy to use tax preparation app. My only criticism is the need to review and validate each stock transaction. If you have wash trades, the IRS requires you to report each individual stock trade for that account. My managed accounts make 100's of trades every year. In 2019, there were almost 700 of them. If I download my trades from my broker's tax statements, I'm accepting their reported numbers. I should be able to accept them in my return on a blanket basis. Having to do 700 individual validations is super tedious, time-consuming and plan flat annoying. I switched from TurboTax because it's app couldn't handle the downloading of all my trades. H&R Block does that fine, but the validation process is forcing me to look elsewhere.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
