The program is easy to use. My data from the previous year is transferred to the new year. That is very helpful. The state return is included in the program. The way both returns are e-filed at the same time is helpful.
It's an ok adding machine but doesn't give enough explanatory information. Trying to figure out where a specific entry comes from takes time and patience. Once found, explanatory information is sparse.
I have used H&R Block tax software for more than 10 years. After comparing it to competitors' software such as TurboTax, I have found it easier to use, more intuitive, and more complete in finding additional deductions.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Been using Turbo Tax for years and decided to try H&R Block this year. Had some issues with interest income as a part year resident in 2 different states. Also imbeds state return in the same file where Turbo Tax gave a separate file for state and federal which was more convenient for me. Also on state return for Alabama, it kept flagging me to check a box for being employed which we are now retired so the box should not be checked. Couldn't follow some of the state calculations it did so I assume it is right.
