I like the H&R Block software Ok, but I didn't have confidence in it this year, like I usually do. For example, right off the bat, the activation code inside the hard copy of the software I bought didn't match the format required. I kept getting an error. I finally had to call someone to get a code that would allow me to e-file for free - and that was a huge time suck. I had a couple of other little glitchy problems that I was able to overcome on my own, but all in all, it wasn't the super easy, error-free package I've received in previous years.
The software worked fine as always. I've used the H&R Block tax software for at least eight years now. My only complaint is in the 'Deluxe' software package, you have to seek out and find the Schedule C form to fill out. Previously this was included in this version, but now I believe it's in the more expenisve version. It's just a minor inconvenience. Everything worked extremely well. I would recommend to all self tax preparers.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Easy to use especially when carrying forward previous year data. Never any glitches and great response time. Multiple print options allows for convenient record keeping. Never been audited.
Great tax prep software except for handling K-1s. You get messages that you may to over ride some input and "put it in Part 7 instead of Part 6". This is annoying and if you over ride some input, it can negate your ability to efile. Their competition does better with K-1s, including direct downloading.
Have used this for years after trying others. This is the best - very simple and guides you along. Taxes take minutes instead of hours. I hope it's always available.
