clunky, can't handle K-1 input codes, doesn't really handle W-2 advanced codes, shouldn't have to pay extra for e-filing state,
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

NY State Summary of Federal Form 1099-R Statements
on April 9, 2020

After I finished the Federal return and the NY State return, when I checked the NY State return, I discovered IT-1099-R form in the state return was not generated for any Form 1099-R in the federal return that showed $0 for State tax withheld(box12). The state processing authority will hold up the refund for months until the information is provided and explained. I normally avoid efiling the state return; and print the state return and mail it in with the correct forms.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Great but still some minor difficulties

Stock sales requests date of acquisition and date of sale but in accuracy review it requires that entry be VAR-L or VAR-S??? Schedule A: Entry of local sales tax is entered as provided by city but program does not accept.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
For the most part the software does fine in getting to the pertinent information, if, however something is flagged for some reason, returning to it and fixing it can be difficult unless you are very familiar with tax forms.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Used Many Years, but Increasing Confusion

I have used H&R Block tax software for many years. The latest few years have become less intuitive and resulted in double entries of 1099-Misc forms and multiple e-file rejections are checking error free. I will continue to use it for the name and the support offered.
