Having used TaxAct for years and tried TurboTax for 2018 taxes I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of use of H&R's software. Importing 2018 and downloading W2's worked well. My taxes are not that complicated but I do have an active pension while still working and a few other 1099-R wrinkles and had no issues as I have had in the past with other tools. For my zone of complexity I would rate H&R Block highly over the two others I have used.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
H&R tax software handled my tax needs just fine. The input is fairly intuitive and the forms get filled out as required. In addition to a salary, I had an HSA issue to deal with and some mutual fund activity to report. It did take a little fiddling to sort out the HSA excess contribution, but I was able to get the correct result. Overall, this software is a good value.
Program is good, but updates are slow in coming; and earlier updates erased all data requiring it to be entered again (bad experience; should not occur).
Wonderful product, comprehensive customer service, and it's relatively inexpensive.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been using H&R Block software for years and every year the program gets worse - more bugs, "corrupt" files where I need to start a new return and re-enter all the information, program "not responding", etc. Will be switching next year.
