Doing my 2020 taxes with H&R Block Deluxe Software has made the process easy. I have used this software for the last 10 years without any issues. It transfers needed information from last years taxes automatically. I especially like the security in taking my completed taxes and having a second-look completed in their office for free. I feel confident that my taxes are done right and in the low likelihood that the IRS would find any issues with my taxes, H&R Block has my back.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I have been using H&R Block Tax software since 1994 and the product has steadily gotten better each year. I like the fact that it can import information from one year to the next, removing the necessity of digging through last year's returns for information. The state version even handles the goofy calculations for my state. I tried doing by hand one year and bought the state software the next.
I've never had to call tech support, so I couldn't comment on that aspect. The software has taken good care of me. If you're doing your taxes by hand, save yourself a lot of grief and get the package
Had trouble with the PA state tax file. It took my money to send it and then wouldn’t send the file. It said it needed updated but it wouldn’t update. The federal tax form sent but not the state and I now can’t send the state form. I can’t figure out how to report this problem or who to contact to get a refund. It would be nice to be able to send the state form separately if a problem like this is encountered.
Easy to use. Up to date and current. Reasonably priced for the do it yourselfers. I love that it imports last year's info and the stock info from my financial institution--saves me a lot of typing. Occasionally there is a glitch in one of the directions, but it usually is ignorable.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
It kept telling me to correct the data for our CSA 1099Rs even though I entered everything on the form. I was forced to go to the whole form to complete the return. Why doesn't it just transfer the gross distribution into the correct box automatically?
