Like anything new, it took some time to understand the cadence of the software. But, in the end, it has the correct edit checks and eventually you can file correctly.
Been using H&R Block Deluxe for over 20 years. Very easy to use - can't imagine going back to doing the returns by hand!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Issues with Form 2210

Have used the H&R Block tax software for many years, started back when the product was called TaxCut. Am very satisfied with the product's ability to calculate federal taxes and electonically submit tax forms to the IRS. Ran into an issue this year (2019 taxes) when using Form 2210 to evaluate potential underpayments of estimated taxes using the Annualized Income Installment Method. In parrticular, Form 2210 Schedule AI Part 1 Line 14 "Figure your tax on the amount on line 13" (where lnie 13 is the estimated Taxable Income) apparently calculates annual tax using the standard tax tables as opposed to using the "appplicable Tax Table or worksheet" (per IRS Form 2210 Instructions). This approach over estimates the quarterly tax payments for tax payers with Capital Gains and/or Dividends (where the Qualified Dvividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet is "applicable"); which can result in a predicted penalty when no such penalty is warranted. This is somewhat of a unique case, but is frustrating for those affected who have no desire to over pay estimated taxes.

State Return not clear /Fed could be simpler

Perhaps not HR fault that PA return is confusing. Fed return could be simpler if one can just choose to take std deduction if one knows itemizing can't be greater. Not clear of what significance going thru it all makes ---????
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've used this software for a number of years, and it never fails. I don't have complicated taxes, but it's got all the features for more if I did need it.
