This is a relatively intuitive and easy to use software package. There are a couple of areas where the guiding questions could be more explicit. The primary one that applied to me was obtaining a full dependent credit instead of the lower amount for my daughter in the years that I am allowed to claim her instead of my ex-wife. I also recall thinking that the instructions on the 529 plan distributions weren't as straightforward as they should be. Other than that, I find this to be an effective and useful tool for calculating my taxes and submitting the return electronically or via the mail.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love This Software

I have used Turbo Tax a few times over the years and in my opinion H&R Block is every bit as good, if not better... and it is way cheaper than Turbo Tax. You don't have to know a thing about doing taxes. H&R Block guides you through every step of the way. It's easy and fun. Yes, I said fun! I will never use a different tax software again. Final answer!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
My copy of nys IT201 tax return that i e-filed did not show that i elected to have electronic fund withdrawal even though i filled in the required information on line 83. Return was accepted by NYState.

I have been using H&R Block for more than two decades; as far back as when it was called TaxCut. It has great features, but the fonts have gotten much smaller and very diffficult to see. If this continues, I am afraid I will have to discontinue the use of this software.
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Rejected by IRS

I had to submit 3 times before acceptance. The first rejection was per instructions to send the first submission, which was rejected. Then I sent the second submission which contained a different AGI I calculated, which was rejected. Then I followed up by submitting the last submission for 2018 which was finally accepted. This AGI was the final submission I had made, not the first per instructions. I found it pays to check all submissions which means I didn't do it right the first time in my tax return submission. You might want to include this in your instructions.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to prepare
