I’ve used HR for federal and state for years without issues but this year didn’t go so smooth.
This year I didn’t have as many deductions so ended up using the standard deduction which seemed to mess up what was imported from last year when I did itemize. I had to manually go in and remove stuff. Also in the state return I couldn’t electronically file because of a limit on charitable contributions that can be counted in State when not filing Federal with itemized deductions

2025 was a nightmare with your software. I like to download and get my taxes prepared early. I downloaded when it was first released and it wouldn't install on my computer. I tried 4 times over subsequent months and every time it failed. April rolled around and I gave it one last shot and it finally worked. Ridiculous it came down to the deadline for you to patch your software.

The software doesn't let me efile state return because I made over 1000 stock/option trades. Not happy with that.

We have been buying the same product for years and generally have been satisfied. Although we were able to finish and file our returns, it took much longer than it should have because of two issues. First, there was a glitch in the section to report % of dividends from U.S. Treasury obligations. If the checkbox is NOT CHECKED but there is accidentally an amount in the % box on the next screen, it will still calculate a figure. The second issue had to do with entering an market discount adjustment in the interest income section. A message popped up that indicated we needed to report the interest but not how. The AI help file was useless. There were no instructions and not a logical pathway to guide us on how make the entry. It was only after a lot of hit and miss attempts did we figure it out. We literally wasted about 4 hours tracking down these issues. Bottom line, the software has been good for us over the years but this year, we were a little let down.
