Never used tax software before so it was all new to me. As any available tax software would be. After I figured out how to navigate the software it worked fine. There was an issue that occurred that I had to call about. The call went well and wasn’t overly burdensome, she researched the problem and was able to resolve it right then. Filing electronically was simple! As long as I don’t hear anything from the IRS I’m good. Will most likely use again next year now that I can navigate it.

There were confusing and misleading prompts and explanations how to report income in more than one state on the Illinois state program, but we had no issues with the Federal program and got that refund quickly after e-file. The after-hours FAQ and chat were not user friendly.

I paid the IRS what the program indicated I owed and three weeks later, the IRS sent me a bill for more taxes due. This is the first time the product has made an error that cost me more money.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I've been using HR Block for 25 years. It's OK and does the job but then I do not have complicated taxes. I can now use free online federal IRS web sites but still used Block. The refund was the same when testing. I use NJ free file online and compare it with Block.
This line about SS or railroad retirement has been in the program for years and should be fixed:
"Would you be receiving or ever be able to receive this type of benefit had you ever participated in either program?"
There is something wrong with that sentence.

I use it every year, but I'm not really happy with it. You keep increasing the price and removing features. Why do I have to pay to save something that I used to get for free? And why don't you have an option for the deduction of an average bag of clothes? I'm sick of having to list everything that I put in a bag for a donation.
