I have used this software for decades. My sons tried to use cheap on line software, they now use H and R.
It makes me remember what I might have forgotten. It is not perfect, It got confused about contributing to an IRA when retired, but usually catches my mistakes and helps me reduce my taxes. Being able to have more than one return is great. I often make another one and see what my taxes would have been like if I had done things differently (more long term, etc.) or if done differently for next year.

I HAVE BEEN USING TURBO TAX FOR OVER 20 YEARS. I WAS FORCED TO USE H&R BLOCK THIS YEAR AS TURBO TAX WILL NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 9. TURBO TAX IS FAR MORE USER FRIENDLY THAN H&R. H&R IS VERY CUMBERSOME TO WORK WITH, PARTICULARY IN MAKING CHANGES TO EARLIER SECTIONS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN FILLED. I HAD TO KEEP DOING FORMS OVER AND OVER TO GET RID OF THE INCOMPHRENSIBLE ERROR LISTS BEFORE I COULD EVEN PRINT A WORKING FORM. I DO NOT INTEND TO USE IT NEXT YEAR.

Solid, worth the cash, can be impoved--Linux pleas

Worked pretty well. All the basic Federal stuff solid, except for next years estimated tax with holding sections which didn't import current year data. That was minor. State a little behind Fed; explanations of certain deductions and limitations sometime curt. Not a show stopper, just something to improve upon. It would be great if H&R came out with a Linux version in the future for those of us who are not going to use Windows 11.

I've used H&R Block Tax Cut for several years now, and it provides a simple (well, as simple as taxes can be) way to handle my tax details. I don't have an extremely complicated tax situation, but a little more than just income from employment. I can almost always get everything taken care of in one session.

I have been HR block user for a few years now. Overall I’m happy with it but this year I found it to be glitchy specifically entering multiple 1099-Bs and the way gain/loss was being calculated and displayed.

I did not find it very helpful with investments. The software flagged things it found questionable, but provided nothing helpful to me in answering the questions. I do not feel terribly confident that my taxes were done correctly. I downloaded the investment information from my investment company's website, so there should have been enough information for the software to figure it out.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Attempted to create a return for a family member that passed. Software appeared to function and submit the return but did not mark the return as documents were attached and IRS rejected it. Verified the software showed correct on the raw form. Attempted to resubmit and rejected again. Purchased Turbo Tax and was able to submit the return
