I've used H&R Block's software for so long my experience goes all the way back into the "Tax Cut" software days. Each tax season Block's software handles all of the changes in the tax laws without problem and each year the software is easier to use. Doing your taxes can be time consuming and it can cause a lot of consternation due to making important decisions about issues that I really know very little about. I depend on Block's knowledge, experience, thoroughness and professionalism to help me file returns that are readily accepted by the IRS and in my case, the California Franchise Tax Board, and every year they come through. For me it isn't a matter of how much I'm going to get back, as much as how much may I owe. Over time H&R Block's tax software has kept my tax status solid and with no surprises. I cannot recommend using their software highly enough.

This year it was slow loading and I had a hard time with filing 2 different states. It wouldn't except my credit card, I had to get the state program loaded again to work. It was really frustrating.

You can make it a great software if you include the State return free of charge like the Federal return. Putting it in the mail is like taking a chance that it will get there. It will be more secure.

I've been using this software for almost 10 years without issues but not this year. The software could not handle my schedule k. Also, the foreign tax credit (form 1116) was not done correctly. My brother who had the same schedule k and used TurboTax had no issues!
