It was very disappointing that H&R no longer allows tax data to be imported from Merrill Lynch. May no longer use H&R in the future.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I thought process was good. I usually use turbo tax, however since they no longer support windows 10 I was forced to look elsewhere. I refuse to use the online version of either your or intuits offering.
a couple notes. your process is a little bit more scripted, its much harder to choose what you want to work on. and when you do and then go back to another area your software wants to go through the steps again. so jumping around is a bit more difficult I thought, and the process feels a bit more magic box. I feel very separated from the final product and its a bit harder to "know where" the numbers are coming from and what form you are currently filling out.
also merrill is like the 2nd largest brokerage. not being able to import documents from their platform feels like a sizable miss. fortunalty I had few trades this year.
I would recommend this to a friend!

H&R Block Deluxe not ready for Investment Taxes

I found the ability of the software insufficient for applying data from investments through JP Morgan and Schwab. Errors were seen with 1099Bs and some investments were missed entirely. The product works okay with basic W2s and interest from bank statements, but is limited when working with investment (brokerages) tax information.
