I was very disappointed this year in your software. I was upset that I had to pay to file our federal tax return, where as in past years we did not. Also I found that your software did not have the questions to ask if we had purchased a qualified car made in USA to get the interest expense credit. Also, your software does not do "what if" scenarios like what our tax situation would be as married filling separately instead of married filing jointly.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I completed my return with no problems. I have been using the H&R Block Software for a number of years and I do not recall having any significant issues. I certainly plan on continuing to use it.

I have been using HR Block software since 2012. It is user-friendly for self filers and the prompts are fairly simple to follow.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

In general the H&R Block Deluxe Federal and State program is a good tax preparation program. It could use some more expansive explanations of some topics such as capital gains treatment and more in depth reports isolating income, dividend and interest sources as well as capital gains sources, especially in the year to year comparisons so one could see where the surprises were coming from. The one gripe about the program I have is that it still doesn't know how to handle Pennsylvania K-1 entries regarding interest income. It first includes them in overall interest like the Federal return, and then it CLAIMS THE INTEREST AGAIN ON THE PA K-1 FORMS! This double counts the interest for the PA returns. The PA state program should either claim the interest in one spot, or the other, but not BOTH.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare

Have been using the H&R Block desktop software for 3 previous years and it mostly went fine. This year though was a terrible experience. Completed all steps and e-filed federal and state. An hour later got an email that taxes cannot be sent to IRS without any explanation why. Email asked to call some number. Called the first time and got put on hold for 15 mins. Was told that hold time was 20 more mins and given the option of getting a call back. I did that and no call back even after 1 hour. So 1 hour later called back and again was put on hold for 20 mins. This time didn’t take the callback option. Finally got connected to a human but turns out it was the wrong department. Routing to the right department took another 20 mins. So after 40mins mins finally seems like connected to the right person. And they hang up!!! #*^*!! So called again and do this same dance again. Finally after another 45 mins hold got a real, helpful person. Apparently the efile was blocked for verification?! Had to answer a number of questions and then taxes were finally submitted to IRS.
This was an extremely bad experience. Will not be using this software again.

Just fine but I never saw anywhere in the sw to deduct the fed tax on my vehicle registrations?
