Better Than Turbo Tax

So much easier than downloading and wading through instructions from Govt. tax websites. It's like having a CPA in the computer who knows every nook and cranny of the tax codes/laws and knows how to maximize them to your benefit. Will definitely use again next year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I switched from TurboTax to H&R Block this year because the Block interface was easier to follow. Overall the H&R Block software was easy to use and accurate. It could still be more user friendly.

Software bugs forced me to file a paper report
on April 15, 2026

This program has numerous bugs, which caused rejection of my electronic filing by the IRS and forced me to mail a paper return. Some details:
1) Wrongly interpreting day of birth, choosing 1040-SR instead of 1040 and adding a Social Security income form.
2) Forcing the inclusion of form 8959, even though no community income exists.
3) Arithmetical errors in form 5329

Also, when adding details to medical expenses in a items list, attempting to review what I entered brings the IRS form instead of showing the details as entered.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
