Extemely Disappointed

I've been using H&R Bloch Tax Software for more than 20 years, so I've been happy with it. This year, as I have done since it was an option, I E-Filed. My Federal return was rejected, not because I'd done something wrong, but rather because there was an issue with your software. The message I got was the issue was going to be fixed and to wait until 04/14/2026 to download the update which would then help to fix the problem, which involved Foreign Tax credits. I waited until 04/14 I followed the instructions I was given and tried to update the software. But there was NO update. I called the tech line for help. While the person I spoke to tried to be helpful, he couldn't see my return and told me that a number of things needed to be filled in on Form 1116. It was difficult to follow, and then do what he said. As I said, I've used this software for 20+ years, always had Foreign Tax credits, and never had any issue with them. I reviewed the portion of the interview dealing with Foreign Tax Credits and found no errors. I finally decided, as the filing deadline was approaching, to forgo the Foreign Tax credit and I deleted that section. This whole episode was very disappointing and frustrating. And it was all as a result of YOUR errors and lack of adequate support. I'm very angry about it. I think I should be compensated for my lost credit, as well as the anger and frustration I went through with this. I'm sure you can tell from my tone that I'm not happy!!

I had used this program for several years and always had one free state program. For some reason, I had to pay this year. Not sure as to why.

I have used your software for many years and had been happy with it. This year my son moved to Illinois and in doing his taxes your software required a duplicate entry of his driver's license number for efiling. That field was 12 digits long while the IL license number is 14 digits. I left out two dashes which caused the return to be rejected. I ended up having to mail his return and make a special trip to IL for his signature. The person I online chatted with suggested I contact the IL Dept of Revenue, as if they could fix your software problem.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
