After 20+ years of using HR Block it may be time to find something else. Losing the ability to import Bank of America and Merrill is just ridiculous. Importing from ALL major banks and Brokerage firms should be mandatory for all Tax software companies.
Cons: Hard to import documents

Adequate but not stellar

H&R Block is an adequate tax preparation software package. At this point there is little to no innovation, just updates for current tax code. It doesn't fully automate everything, even when it has the information from past returns, forcing unnecessary manual calculations and lookups. The AI addition appears to be mere words to enable them to claim they have it. Frankly, they are largely resting on their laurels and doing the bare minimum to update to reflect current regulations. Sadly, there's little evidence that their competitors are doing anything different. it's a mature industry with little to no innovation.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
