Even though my taxes are relatively simple compared to many taxpayers, I still sometimes have difficulty deciding what "numbers go where." As a retired educator, I am very accustomed to giving and following instructions, but the instructions in the tax booklets are sometimes quite confusing. I like the way this software makes it more clear what numbers I am supposed to type into each box.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good for Federal, not so good with State returns

While the Federal return part of the software work well, the New York State portion left something to be desired. It probably is okay for a full time resident of NY, but as a part-year resident, I believe the software questions did not do a good job. There should have been better questions to help determine better the amount of time spent in NY and whether wages and interest were truly attributable to NY. The software abandoned me in that regard, when it should have been more questioning. As a result, I may not have received as much of a refund as I might have been entitled to. For that reason, I may switch to Turbo Tax for my 2026 taxes.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The last couple years I had lots trouble with their Deluxe version. Almost impossible to correct anything in order to e-file!

Purchased for this years tax season. This program should include free online filing for State return. Program advertises free State return but they then charge a steep electronic filing fee, disappointing!

First time in several years of using this product I had 2 issues that hindered my electronic submission. First the code that I entered to start the program was not imported correctly for filing. Then last year’s AGI was imported as “0” and was rejected by the IRS. Once corrected everything submitted successfully.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!

Issue with saving information and importing data from prior year. Could not import W2 info from employer. Used product for the past 10 years, not very happy with it!

How is it that you can use Merrill Lynch in an example regarding finances but yet not include them in the list of companies with “import” capability? I had to manually load my shirt and long term capital gains/losses. This is the second year out of the last 3 where there was a problem with importing Merrill Lynch data. Two years ago I escalated an error code that was generated. No one could solve the problem. Once again I had to import manually.
