Hard to figure out state software.

This version for 2025 does not handle state returns well. I cannot find where the state return is saved and can't tell when the state return is finished and if the software is filing Federal or State.
Also, when you go back to review when finishing it seems you have to go through the whole rest of the return to get to the finish even if you do not change anything.

I really enjoy this software because it’s easy to understand and use most of the time. While it can occasionally get a bit confusing, overall it’s very straightforward and user-friendly.

I have used TaxCut or its predece4ssor since the early 1990's and always found it accurate, convenient to use, and a program thatg handles one's tax returns accurately, promptly, and secureley. Why did I give it lsss the 5 stars? for years, updates to the program during the tax season were extemely easy, the program logged onto one's internet, and completed the updates without fanfare or any problem. This year, instead of doing so, I frequently received an error message that the program was unable to connect despite my being online with myh network. This proved to be a very troublesome problem and led me to bew concerned about the accuracy of my return. I hope the HRBlock fixes this problem before next year's version is released.

Easy to use for most cases

If you have a simple tax situation and use the same software year to year, it's rather easy to use (UI is nicely consistent over years). If have unusual situation, then instructions are not always clear especially to those not familiar with tax lingo. Review will mention checking for certain forms (HSA) but when go to that section there is no way to add that form. Trusting the software had correctly determined it was not needed. The print function does list all the official names of forms that will be printed (PDF or paper) but mere mortals may not always recognize those form names.
I switched from Windows to Mac this year and the Mac version has font issues with printing and viewing. Have to use the "Force Font" print setting which is not clearly explained. Next year they need to add a font size/color setting for the app to view screen comfortably (font too small or color too hard to see).

It worked fine except for the State(NE) return. The new CREDITS shown on Fed return were not considered in the State calculations and we were over taxed on Nebraska return. I now have to redo and file amended returns.
