The software was recommended to me by someone who's been using it for a number of years. Overall, I felt it was easy to use. Since this was the first time using it to file, I had to add a bit of information manually but was able to download other documents. Next year should be easier.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have been using the H&R software for 3 years now. I did not try another seeing that it requires some effort to get used to this one. In other words, I do not have a comparison with other software which may or may not have the same issues. I was used to the original 1040 forms. The H&R Block software does not really make the job easier with a few exceptions- 1. you can file electronically 2. it runs a check for missing items 3. it can automatically import information from investment accounts. What I certainly do not like 1. you really have to be careful that when you 'import' data from a previous year that you do not end up listing something as income that was also on last year's income. The system gives you no warnings, which it easily could if the exact same number is listed twice. 2. the 'help' function is no help at all and the "AI" that comes with the software is a joke. It can not help with even the most basic things. I turned to ChatGPT to help me out on every question I had.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this Deluxe version last week. I finished my and my sister's taxes. The only problem I had was an entry for a number on a 1099-R that wouldn't fit into the box provided. I didn't understand why the accuracy check fail until I printed out my return and saw the program had cut the number short. I corrected it. I will contact my investment company and ask why this number is presented as it is.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!
