I have used H & R for many years. I am very happy with the program. I have never been audited and I feel like I get every bit of refund I deserve. I specially appreciate the fact that the program is updated when new information comes from the IRS. I strongly recommend this program!

Software was fine but the fact that Merrill lynch and Bank of America 1099s were not importable was highly disappointing. What happened between 2024 and 2025 between ML and HRB?

It does the job, but the user interface is clunky and forces the user to scroll to find buttons to move to next screen. If you use online submission for federal but not state, the flow of the program stops without prompt, and you have to select go to state manually to print forms for the state mailing. Do not like the screen to opt out of sharing info to set yourself up for unsolicited promotions. It should never happen! Make it better!

There was a very vexing bug in the 1099-DIV section. The sources were imported from last year's return. I would put in some 2025 amounts and then later when I returned to the same screen, the data was moved around, with different amounts assigned to different sources. I deleted it all and started again, and that seemed to help.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
