My Tax Preparing Experience

I've been using the H&R Block tax program for years. It's the best. Simple to use, and way less expensive than using the services of a tax preparer.

I have been using this software for well over 10 years and this year the state software update was defective. It did not allow me to open the return after update and when the state software update was removed, it would not let me complete an eFile.

I have used HR Block Tax software for years. It is fairly easy to use, but there are parts that I struggle with that I think can be improved. For example, there are some data fields that have no links to explain what what that data is. I think ALL data fields should have explanation/help links. Another example is the review step will highlight a box on a form that may/is not right. I don't know where the number came form, or why it is blank or why it is wrong.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Generally works good except updates and downloads

I have the 2025 Deluxe + State. I am running it on a PC with Windows 11. The H&R Block software works good in general, but connection to the internet is terrible, many error messages, the updates won't download, and downloading of 1099 forms from my financial institution is spotty at best. (I have excellent internet service and connection, all other software I own works flawlessly with good speed. ) When trying to download my 1099, I get an error message that says that my SSN is wrong. I was able to download 1099's when I did my son's taxes, so I know it can work, but it took several tries (using the same SSN). It seems like the H&R Block server access is haphazard. Not sure if I will buy it again next year.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
