I’ve been using H&R Block tax software for 5 years. Very easy to use. My only reseat for 4 instead of 5 stars is that I would like to see a comparison of my tax return with my total refund between Federal and State returns. Lately my Max federal return limits my state return when using standard reductions. If I change my federal return to itemized deductions (which is slightly less then the standard) my state return increases and my total refund between federal and state refunds is more than when using standard deductions
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have used H&R Block for a few years now and my sense is that overall the quality and functionality are getting better. There are still plenty of quirks (for instance the "error checking" at the end should not exist if the software picked up the errors or omissions as you go) and a lot of stuffing that people don't need (some of the credit and deductible questions are totally non applicable to most people, so it would be nicer if the software allowed random entries or transfer info from phone pics).
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Failed to correctly transfer federal info to state, and then when I corrected it, failed to verify so I could complete state return

1. State program wrong for Kansas. Went completely through. but once it got to file, it stated that because my wife was deceased, I had to print it out and file manually. I checked with the state and the did have a special form, along with a copy of death certificate to mail with return, The form was simple and contained data program already had, since right next to your headquarters, it is odd that you do not know about state requirements. It is as. if you had AI do the 2025 update. 2. I have used you every year for 30 years except last year. I had to skip a year because your software did not run on my older systems, either PC or Mac. When I bought a brand new HP Windows 11 PC, it still would not run because although it had adequate memory, your program said it would not load on an HP system S, something not stated in any requirements. I gave up and did the 2024 tax manually. This year, I bought another new system, a Mac. When I tried to get basic data loaded from a prior year, it would only take it if I gave it 2024 files. Your programmer are idiots. They are making it more difficult for users by creating unneeded barriers within what was once the best tax software package. Finding limitations and bugs after after wasting time and money buying new computers and your products stinks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
