I have always used h&r block software for a reason. I have to say that I tried the online version and would rate that a 2 out of 5. I ended up redoing my taxes on the software version.

I was mostly through the data input when the projected refund dropped by thousands of dollars. I went back over each entry and the program had changed the address on my husband's W-2 as well as the dollar amounts some of the lines. Even after the Help Desk escalated the case and I downloaded the update, it still dropped some of the data I had entered. I was able to correct it and submitted my taxes. I will think twice about using that software again next year.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Software works fine. Not happy that I not only have to pay for the program to file a tax return but that you also charge to file the return with the state. The program should at least come with both Federal and State free files, not just Federal free files. Imagine that hard working Americans not only have to pay taxes, but they also have to pay to file a related tax return which may result in additional taxes due. It's a disgrace that companies like you were against the IRS idea of free file.

I have had some problems with your software. First of all, it only works with my newest computer. But my newest computer doesn't work with any of my printers, so I can't easily print a backup copy. So I didn't print last year's return. I filed last year. When I installed this year's software, it was unable to read last year's tax file so I had to reenter everything. Also the file had been corrupted and I could not read my AGI and am unable to file electronically.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The product loaded easily and without a hitch. Annotations, in general, are fair to vague so that if you don't understand the meaning of the item you won't necessarily be enlightened by the explanation. Also, my brokerage account detail information is always brought over by TurboTax, but only summary information is brought over by HRB. I eventually made it through the tax return, but it was an ordeal!
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

Cons - BAD UI, on laptop w/ Windows 10, fonts in working main frame are toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo SMALL, if we increase font, there's NO SCROLL BAR at bottom to slide right or left to reach "NEXT" etc buttons), Review section is too bad, can't differentiate why something is prompted by tool for us to check/review, no explanation given, For "Qualified Dividends", doesn't even ask us to find pro-rated dollar amount for state specific dividend), Overall, it's okay for basic functionality and filing return electronically but TT is better (UI, prompt, details, explanation.. etc)
