I have used H&R Block tax preparation software for many years with successful results; however, this year, I found it very difficult to manage, with multiple unexpected diversions and unexpected shutdowns, and, most disturbing, difficulty recovering already-entered data. I ultimately finished and filed my returns; however, the orderliness and reliability I have come to expect was not there. I can't explain the change, but it is unlikely that I will choose H&R Block again - too difficult and too risky.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The program is generally easy to use. However, the price has recently become absurd. The company is clearly taking advantage of the current administration shutting down the IRS's recently-enacted free file program.

The software was easy to use. There was one problem. When I printed my final return, I noticed that the software had doubled my withholding. So my refund showed more than I had paid in. When I went to Chat about this, I was told to review all my entries, which I had already done. The mistake was NOT of my doing. No one could tell me how to fix, until someone suggests I delete all
My entries and start from scratch. Which I did. Finally the numbers came out alright. So after a few days of trying to find someone to help me, I finally helped myself. I’ll never know why this happened, but it came out in the end.
