I had trouble with form 8839 for adoption. Seems that line 16 and 18 of the form did not match the IRS instructions. So the errant info caused later miscalculations and the form failed checks. That delayed sending taxes to IRS. I tried the "override" feature, but didn't know that would fail your final checks too. I removed them, waited for the update on 3/13/26, but only line 16 was corrected. Now the app crashed on final check.
Your techs could only offer, 1) close and reopen app; 2) reboot PC; 3) uninstall app and reinstall. Actually, uninstalling and reinstalling for my issue...did not work because your app re-read in m saved form. Also, the tech insisted that different stuff was installed, better than the mini-updates like 3/13/26. Hogwash. Each time you update, the app closes, re-installs. Even after unnstall/reinstall, the Federal portion had to go through an update. Told the tech "reading from a script" we are back to the same issue. Tech could not fix my issue. I even tried to remove form 8839, which your app now fails to actually remove forms. I actually stumbled upon the fix... started a new return #2 and spend 2.5 hrs again filling in fields. There is still an issue with your logic for adoptions. I had paid a major portion of our adoption in October 2024, but it was finalized in courts in March 2025. The 2 upfront questions regarding carryover amt are mis-worded "both" did not apply. When I first answered NO, the adoption logic on form 8839 failed stating I answered NO and have a carryover amount. I understand the form and had to go back and ignore the "both" and change NO to YES. Fire the person who re-checked the work...not the programmer. I almost resorted to printing and mailing paper copies, but the app kept hanging up. Took 1 hour to print 21 pages. Only after completing the 2nd return did the checks pass, no app crashes occurred and I e-filed correctly.
