i got a larger refund that the program calculated from both the state and federal. This was very unusual and disappointing. That said, it could have been a typo by me that caused the error
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I've been using the software since 1998 formerly known as TaxCut and still very pleased with the simplicity using 2025 H&R Block Tax software. I won't use any other software to do my taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I use H & R software each year to do my taxes. The download from my brokerage accounts works great and is easy. What frustrates me every year is in the final review step, several items pertaining to my brokerage investments pop up. Why? The brokerage downloads names, account numbers, investment detail. These pop up items require me to go back and basically double check each download. That’s nonsense. Fix it!

Cons: Time consuming

Program works well for doing taxes. My only complaint is it is harder to find answers to questions one may have concerning forms or information. It is set up for people who have more than a basic understanding of taxes.
