Update for better reporting of fed/NJ differences

The federal program is fine. I used the NJ state program. It could use enhancements for when there are differences between federal and state income requirements. For example, gains on HSA distributions required me to override the NJ program to account for the gain for state purposes. That override prohibited me from filing my NJ state return electronically. Please update the NJ program to allow additional NJ income that is required to be reported for state tax purposes.

I have been using HR Block software for over 40 years. I even worked for HR Block one year between jobs.
I even volunteered with AARP Tax Aid for three years.
Your software has been pretty straight forward. This year however I had a couple questions about some of the changes. (or I am just getting older :-) ) Thank you!!

It’s the program… same one I’ve used for years and yet it’s getting harder to complete. They are problems with it that shouldn’t be a new problem. For instance you need to know your AGI or adjusted gross income from the previous year in order for the IRS to accept it electronically. And yet the program tells you it’s imported the AGI from the previous years return… but the imported number is “0” It's difficult to override it and I waste time trying to do so. Our taxes are simple, the program is full of errors and in need of software updates. The worse thing is that the problems are problems that were NOT a problem in prior years. Another example that still exists is reviewing or editing my spouses W-2 information. The program still does NOT allow for it without it being a problem.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had problems running the state tax software. I purchased PA but when I tried to do the return, it kept telling me I had to update the federal software or I couldn't run the state. An endless loop for weeks. Not a good experience. A shame because I have been using your software for more than 15 years.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

I bought the premium package that seemed to allowed for more itemized deductions. Just starting the program was too complicated. So, I took a loss on that and bought the deluxe package. Turned out standard deduction worked better after all. So, I wasted money on premium. Also, every year I get a letter from South Carolina Internal Revenue asking for copies of my 1099-Rs, which is an inconvenience.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been using H&R Block tax software for several years now, and I always find it to be fairly straightforward and easy to use. I encountered some new challenges this year due to a new tax situation, but the software helped guide me through it. The problem was with the IRS's convoluted and obfuscated instructions.

I had to use this Tax reporting software because TurboTax would not work on my operating system. It was easy to understand and use.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
