I purchased the H&R deluxe software. It took a while to learn how to best navigate the software for my situation. It was not always clear what did or didn't pertain to me. I missed that listing your AGI for the previous tax year was your digital signature. Now that I have fumbled through it, I hope next tax year will go a lot smoother.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have switched over this year from years of using TurboTax. In general, I like HR Block, but improvements are needed. First, the ability to import from institutions is important. Of 3 that I needed to do, only 1 worked. Also the question interface screens, flow of screens, and ability to jump around all need to be improved.

HAVE USED THIS SOFTWARE BEFORE BUT THIS YEAR COULD NOT IMPORT FROM MY MERRILL LYNCH ACCO UNTS. ENTERD THE DATA FROM COPIES FROM MERRILL BUT DISAPPOINTED IN NOT BRING ABLE TO IMPORT THE DATA.

Return preparation was generally good and happily successful. I did find the corrections section confusing. It should be clearer to "make corrections belo more w in the lines marked in red". It also allow you to easily click back to the pages where the corrections were inserted so the taxpayer can do an overall review of that section After making the correction. Other than causing extra time to figure out my corrections manually all went well.
