As always, the software saves me a a lot of time. Some data warnings seem unnecessary, like no social security income at my age b/c I haven't started taking it yet. There are some warnings that are references to lines on forms with no accompanying information, which in turn leads to time-consuming "rabbit hole" searches. Were it not for this I'd give it five starts.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

I've used this software for years and always been happy. However, this year when doing my grandson's return I had an issue e-filing that support wasn't able to correct. He worked in CT and lived in MA. The company only took CT taxes. We were able to e-file the MA and Federal returns, but the CT return never showed up to e-file. We had to mail his CT return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

It’s awful if one needs to file an amended return. That’s buried deep under numerous hidden menus. So far I have not been able to file this as your process is difficult & confusing.

Mostly very good

I have been using Deluxe software for several years. I greatly enjoy the import features including the prior year and the dividends and capitol gains from financial institution. I do have one complaint. For the last couple years I have had an RMD from my IRA which is totally devoted to a QCD. I have found the interview involving excess distribution from the IRA very confusing. It keeps wanting to give me a tax penalty making me retry my entries until it does not do so. I also do not like paying to file my state tax electronically since I owe no state taxes, but I suppose I could just mail that form in.
Pros: Easy to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!
