I have used for several years and it seems to be easier to use each year. I am a retired C.P.A. and have used the H & R Block software for my own tax return since I retired. Definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to prepare their own tax return as it steps you through preparing the return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Poor: had to correct HR Block error

becoming more disappointed over the years. This year: I had federal form reject because HRBlock completed area (Form 5695) that was not applicable requiring federal to reject and me to go in manually to removed information and resubmit and resubmit state. In addition, I had to open forms to complete directly versus the having the application prompt me. If this is necessary I might as well use another product or do manually. I have a simple return.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

TOO EXPENSIVE! Updates come too late. I want to get my taxes done ASAP. Not wait for several weeks for the software to be completely developed. Did I mention that the constant increase in cost year after year, is RIDICULOUS?

I have bought H & R Block software for many years and have never had any problems with it. I was using it when it was called Tax Cut in the 1980s. I like the simplicity of the program and how it helps me prepare for the next year.

Had to override my 1040 because my stock import gave me my 2024 tax year. Tried downloading and never changed. I started over it said already have it do you want to override? Yes and I had to redo everything! I couldn't delete schedule D or override that one part which would've been a time saver! But otherwise ended well just doubled my time doing it!

Cons: Hard to import documents
