Average, I think. Eight years in, hard to start with a competitor. I pay for investor and State. Five years ago we started contributing to our granddaughter’s college fund- part is deductible in Minnesota. Block never brought it up, I knew about it and had to find the form when preparing State. Four consecutive years proceed, and Block has never mentioned it after loading my previous year information. I really think that they should get a computer to help them recall stuff from previous years. Just saying.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought HR Deluxe, along with the state versions for OR and CA. I live in Oregon, but have part time income from a job in CA. OR and CA have a reciprocal arrangement on income taxes, which is very helpful to me. The HR Block software handled everything smoothly, and I submitted all three tax returns electronically.

Better descriptions - State returns need attention

Bad “Feature” – You added previous year AGI (I think that was what it was) confirmation when electronically filing for both people on a joint return. No description on what to put in for the AGI for the second filer. This was not in the previous years and not in an earlier version of the 2025 software. I had to google it to see what to enter.
Many items in my state returns over the years could be calculated, but you ask for entry. Entry was wrong, state held return and sent me a letter. More attention is needed to state returns.
