I have used HR Block tax software for 20 years. I buy the download as early as possible each year and run a pro-forma return to validate my estimated tax payments. I have never paid more than a few hundred at filing and never had a penalty. Ease of use is superior as is data loading from last year’s return.

HR BLOCK is easier for me to use than TurboTax. One portion that could be improved is the K-1 entries that don’t have all the codes to enter or good explanations for at risk questions.

I used the software for the past three seasons and was initially satisfied. The 2023 filing season ended in disappoint in that I was not able to file until into March due to slow arriving updates. When the ‘final’ updates became available, I was unable to efile due to issues. I had already mailed my state returns with the federal return that was supposed to be final. I still think the product is worthwhile, but management needs to be more proactive in ensuring the product is good enough for prime time.

Had been a long time TurboTax user. I used H&R this year. Only problem was within the Maryland return - there is an entry that autofills for income related to forest ranger or other service - it must be physically deleted. I missed it and filed an erroneous return.
