I have used the H&R desktop to my taxes and my son’s taxes. It is accurate and the program is easy to use. My biggest gripe is that updates are always so late. The program should be ready to go right from the beginning. Can you imagine buying a car and you’re ready to drive but it only goes in reverse until the next update. Who would buy it. This your your e-file system crashed on the 14th of April.Really? This shouldn’t happen. Then your messages made me feel like my system was the problem, but all along it was your system that was down. It doesn’t make me feel very appreciated.
I"ve been using your tax software since 1993 (formerly Taxcut). Generally, it was a good product. A few years ago, Block stopped offering online help - Strike 1. Then the day before Tax day 4/14/24, your server would not process online IRS submittals. This last until 2:00 on 4/15/24. Forcing me to print 40+ pages of taxforms and then taking them to the post office to send Certified mail - strike 2. In an attempt to file my statae return electronically three times, my credit card was fraudlently charged three time so now I have to deal with that mess -Strike 3. You have lost a customer for life after this debacle.
Cons: Hard to prepare

I've been using the software for 10+ years without any major issue but this year was a huge disappointment. When I tried to e-file federal and state returns, I kept on getting bad gateway errors for two days. As it was getting close to post office closing time, we ended up filing by mail, which is truly unacceptable. Adding insult to the injury, when I came home after long wait at the post office, the software submission issue was fixed so I just sent in my federal return for quicker refund. Hopefully filing both in paper and e-file will not cause any issue. I will seriously consider other software options when I file for 2024...

I've used your software and efiling services for years and you completely failed to provide efiling sevices on the most important day 4/15. You know it and you did nothing!

Won’t use again. Was caught up in the “bad gateway” issue on tax day. Every time I hit the file button I was charged. Had to call my bank and get them to stop the payments. It’s tax day. It’s tax software. Do your job.

I've been using this software for about 25 years and have never had the problems I've had this year. I will probably try something different next year.

I’ve used the disk download for several years but was very disappointed when the system did not allow me to process my return. I was unable to find a solutions and a reason as to why. Eventually my return processed but left me without the ability to track the status.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have used this software for a number of years, and have always appreciated it. Happy with the interface and preparation process. This year, I was one of the people who was unable to file during the final 2 days of 4/14-4/15. Very stressful experience, and extremely unfortunate timing. I appreciate the work your team eventually did to fix the problem, but given the circumstances, I am unable to offer a higher rating for this year’s software.
