Other than servers being down on the most important day of the year for taxpayers, and being charge 29 separate times for something I never got. (No exaggerations), and spending the full day printing and mailing my returns, I would say it's a good product. If you like to do those kinds of things in your "not free" time.

Past years this has worked fairly well. The big advantage is e-filing, but it does help to keep all the documents straight and track which forms you need. However, this year was a nightmare. Nighttime on 14 April the eFile servers go down and are out until after noon on the 15th. Next, the IRS rejects my eFile for two reason, both of which are imported when you use your TY2002 file. It tells you the two reasons and gives instructions on how to resolve them. One instruction refers to my spouse's last years AGI, but we always file jointly and there is no such thing. Tells me to use a work-around that does not exist. Points to a line on a form 17z; there isn't one. Second item is last years PIN for my wife is incorrect. I check it against last years file, and it is correct. I look on last years printout, still correct. I had to give up, and use their last resort instructions, which to print it out and file paper. Unacceptable.

I was honestly scared this time due to Bad gateway error encountered on very last day . Wasted my time trying for other tax softwares , panicked and had to take off of work to submit the return on very last day . Tax filling indeed was more stressful with h&r, considering another alternative next year .!

I filed on tax day, got a repeated “Bad Gateway” but they didn’t hesitate to charge my account over 20 times. 5 days later the charges still haven’t dropped…

Especially happy that provides a special retirement income feature that Turbotax does not have. However, this year I had problems e-filing the federal return on April 14th due to Bad Gateawy code when it was not connecting to HRBlock server. I filed bothe State and Federal together. But the federal was rejected and after correcting federal was accepted bur I still do not know what is happening to my State e-filed return.
Software purchased on line did not work. Could not reach anyone for help so bought a second software. Not happy about that.

I've been using the H&R tax program for over 20 years and it has generally worked well. I retired in 2023 which included several IRA changes including a rollover, a Roth contribution, and an RMD on an inherited IRA. I electronically imported the 1099-R and 5498 forms from my financial advisor. However, when I tried to submit my federal return electronically, I was notified that a Form 8606 was required and therefore, I could not electronically file my return with the IRS. I don't understand why the H&R tax program is unable to produce a Form 8606, since all the necessary information to produce it is provided in the 1099-R and 5498 forms.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Ive used for the past 5 years and I like the set up.Unfortunately the efile was blocked on April 14 to the afternoon of the 15th. Caused a lot of stress.H&R Block software worked perfectly though
