I’ve used H&R Block for years ( and Taxcut before that). This year I was not able to file federal or either state using electronic filing! One state requires paper filing, but the program didn’t warn me about all the fields that had to be filled in manually. Then our federal return was rejected along with our second state return, but H&R Block’s system was overwhelmed and would not accept e-filing at all on April 15. So basically I paid for efiling for nothing! I had to print out and sign all three returns and then drive to the post office and wait in line. I want a full refund
Cons: Time consuming

I have used H&R Block Deluxe software for my tax preparation for several years. The only problem I have had was recording my oil and gas royalties; it has always been a little confusing for me. However, the confusion might have only affected me. Regardless, I think the H&R Block Deluxe software has always been a good tax preparation package for me.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Fast

I have used this product more 15 years but still not satisfied with the quality. I have had difficult times to import 1099 forms from Fidelity. The was not working instructions for importing are not accurate, also importing didn’t work at times. The transactions were not accurate after imported. I also couldn’t electronically file my tax return because your sever was down, consequently i printed and mail my return.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've used the other major tax prep software for years. Switched to H&R block a couple of years ago. Works just as well. Online filing this year was painful. I waited to submit until 4/15 (first and last time ever.) HRBlock had a major outage for hours. They updated the program notification to say they know they're having a problem and try again later, but don't call customer serivce. Additionally, they instructed user to PRINT and mail their returns. 50% of the reason I bought the software was for the convenience of the free e-filing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A good alternative to TruboTax, but wiAth a glitch

As a long-term TurboTax user, I finally decided to try another tax preparation software. TurboTax overcalculated the federal tax we owed to the IRS last year, and as a result, we received an unexpected check from the IRS. Overall, it has been quite simple to import the TurboTax records from last year, and all the automatic importing functions worked well. There is a lot of helpful information available with just one click to guide you through the process correctly.
However, there is an issue caused by the software update. When I had everything ready, including the credit card information to pay for the e-filing, I clicked the submit button but was told that the software needed an update. I don't understand why I needed an update at the very last moment, especially since I had updated it about an hour ago. If there were any changes due to the update, they should have been checked before the final step of submitting the taxes. After the update, it seems that nothing had changed, and I submitted the taxes. Later on, I discovered that I had been charged twice for the e-filing fee.
I hoped that one of the two transactions would be canceled automatically. However, it has been four days, and they are still there. I need to dispute one of them. If you have encountered a similar situation, please make sure you don't pay the fee twice!
