Software gets the job done but the fees just keep adding up? Need more help? Pay us more. Want to efile? Pay us more. Want more features? Pay us more. For as many copies of this they are selling, there's no way it should cost this much.

I have been using the standard Federal and Satate return version for years and have never had a problem. I particularly like when they inform you that making certain entries are "uncommon". It gets your attention to really examine what you are entering. I think the IRS appreciates people using computer programs to file as they, like H & R are so accurate.

I have been using H & R Block tax preparation software for years (even back when it was called Tax Cut). I have always relied on it to prepare an accurate return, reducing my risk of audit and taking advantage of current changes in tax laws.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I use H&R Block Deluxe tax preparation software every year. The process is thorough and accurate. I like the "helps" that are available to click on to provide answers to most of the topics I encounter.

I encountered a bug in the retirement withdrawal section. I am over 59.5 but under RMD age. The interface made no allowance for this so I had to edit my forms directly, thus obviating the reason for using tax software in the first place. I just hope I got it right.
The overall interface was clunky - unclear and unsatisfying.
I am an angry, dissatisfied customer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Everything went smoothly until I tried to efile. I kept getting an errors regarding connectivity. Server issues. Despite repeated attempts to resolve it,I gave up . I resorted to printing my return and mailing it in. Later that day, I get an email from HRB telling my ereturn was received and accepted by the IRS. Depite that email, Istill cant confirm status because your software thinks I haven't filed yet.

I've been using this software for over a decade and never had a problem until now, and it was a serious problem. There was a server issue on the 14th and 15th stopping the software from communicating with the server which would not allow me to submit my tax return. The lack of communication from your company regarding the issue was frustrating and is what will cause me to use different tax software next year. There were a lot of people with this same issue and your Twitter support feed finally acknowledged there was an issue late morning on the 15th with no further details about expectations. Your customer service and communication could have helped this issue but instead you took the usual corporate route of sharing nothing so liability is limited. All I can say to your executive management and legal team is great job losing customers. When your software sales next year are down 20% this will be your root cause.
