Software update broken and can’t install state tax

This is the first time in almost 20 years where I can’t do my state taxes because software update doesn’t work. I manually downloaded the federal update but as state requires federal to be updated, it doesn’t see it has been fine and will not install on my windows 10 laptop. So frustration after installing uninstalling and reinstalling numerous time. Computer also finished windows updates and I disabled firewall and uninstalled mcafee. So what else could be preventing it from updating?
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

Filed taxes on April 14 and required to pay. Decided to submit payment electronically, checking account withdrawal. Expecting to see some sort of 'posting' in my account on the 15th... nothing; left me with questioning if I submitted proper account numbers. There is no place in the HR program that records the submitted info for review. On 16th was able to log into IRS and did see that my payment submission was posted on 15th and eventually withdrawn on 17th. Had to figure on my own how to check IRS site, think this is an easy fix to give assurance of correct information submitted as opposed to working about a late payment of thinking should I send in an additional check for 'fear' of being late.. thanks!

My experience with this program that I have used over a number of years that for the most part, it handles most routine income types, deductions and adjustments well. However, when it comes to somewhat complicated adjustments such as foreign tax credits, the interview questions are not designed well to process it. The program wants the user to read up IRS instructions and then input the data! Also, if you have paid taxes to more than three foreign countries which is common if you have invested in foreign domiciled companies, it does not let you e-file the return! The interview questions around form 1116 need to be more robust and should help the user. This is a deluxe version, not the basic version, of the program and should handle nuanced tax issues well. Overall, the program does its job well.
