After paying for the DELUXE + STATE package, I had to pay again to efile my state. That should be included with your price and disclosed before buying. Shame on you!

Worst year ever for HR Block

Like many others i could not file electronically. Also my credit card was charged at least 3 times for state efiling which never worked. I will be contacting you shortly to have those charges reversed. Also I will expect a full refund for the useless software

Poor Performance on Apr 15

I have been an HR Block tax software customer since the days when it was called Kiplinger Taxcut. I am thinking of moving to Turbo Tax after the issues I encountered on Apr 15, 2024 while trying to file a federal and state return. on additional I had to download multiple state packages and the one for Maryland was as much as my Deluxe and state package combined. That was very surprising. Not sure what caused the Apr 15th server issues on Blocks part but it was probably enough for me to switch software.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I think Block has made this a miserable experience so that they can drive customers to their paid services. There is no reason to have an expensive complex program like this for most people. For families with multiple earners, there should be a simple way to generate a return with only a W2 or 1099s for kids (example). This was much more polished when it was TaxCut. Same for multistate. The charge for the 2nd or more state return is more than buying a whole 2nd Deluxe+State program. They do this to intimidate you when you're trying to do finish up and need that and figure that you'll pay the ridiculous full list MSRP for just state add-in. The PDF scan of online W2's work for some so you have to check each entry carefully. For 3 years running, I've gotten "SS Tips" entries that are non-existent on my W-2s, and from more than one employer. Trying to clear "Data verifications" is a circular task and frustrating. I really hope the federal pilot Freefile program expands to all the states.
