Every year I know I'll be getting the next year's version when tax season arrives again. From complex filings with dependents, multiple states, and marital statuses, the straight-forward process has handled everything I needed. And when it's time to file, I'm confident that my submissions are as good as can ever be fairly expected. It takes patience, yes, but I get to file on time or early and know I've covered all tax matters.
I have used H & R Block tax software for 20+ years. The software asks questions which then fills in 1040 and other forms ending in a tax return. Plus, each page has topics which you can further explore for special situations.
Have used this for the past several years. Federal is spot - on , but State has been weak since 2013 or earlier. Feel that HR Block dumps State knowledge on the user, rather than the provider.
As I have used this for the last four or five years I feel comfortable saying that working with the software is a comfortable process. It’s a good product. However, I was discouraged to discover that the software could not electronically file my state taxes this year. Apparently, because I was taking a deduction for long-term care insurance on my state form, the software could not file electronically. One of the main reasons I use the software is to e-file returns which allows me to receive my refund earlier than mailing it in. I’m sorry the software would not help me out here.
