I have been using H&R Block federal tax software for years and have always been happy. The State tax software I have used has had problems. I have called to get help and have been told it is a software issue and I am provided with no solution to the problem.
I haven't been ablt to file my State return because it says I owe over $4000 when I actually should be getting a few hundred dollars back because I paid $4500 in estimated taxes. It is not clear where to put them and the only help was from computer generated that didn't understand a word I said!
It seems software errors and miss queues are becoming more prevalent. You have to do better. Also, I should not have to pay again for state rejections when you failed to tell me I had a form I did not need coming from Federal return that was incomplete. I chose to not use it in state by screen choice but you left it hanging. Rejected.
On 4/15 at 7:30 in the morning I tried to e-file my federal return and there was a problem notice about connecting to your server. Volume likely took you down at most critical time. Was able to file that night - lucky I was around to try again. Waited on hold on the phone for 1/2 hour until I had to give up. Also, don’t like support for foreign tax and QBI. Sub-par. Been with you for 20 years, but you haven’t kept up.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
