This software works great for all the straight forward stuff. If you step off a little it is likely to tell you to fill in a form manually, and for help it will just tell you to go read IRS documents. If I wanted to figure out everything manually, why buy this in the first place?

Straight forward and easy to use for most tax situations. Integration with state returns has some problems like for Pennsylvania. Interest income shown on K-1 forms gets put into interest income and then when you go to report K-1 income, the same interest income gets entered AGAIN as income, thus double taxing you on that income.

I have used H&R Block desktop software for the past four years. Up to this year I have had no problems. I have yet to hear any explanation for the near catastrophe we experienced on Sunday trying to e-file our returns. We printed everything ready to run to the USPS, but tried one more time and amazing the e-filing worked. However, we were hesitant to trust our success until we received confirmation of the returns being accepted. I would not recommend this software unless we received an explanation for our nail biting experience.
