Site was down for 2 days, couldn't file, got charged several times for state filing. Had to end up filing my state manually on state website and print and mail forms, which I haven't done in over 20 years. No communication on issues. I couldn't rely on issue being fixed on time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I couldn't submit on the 14th or until the afternoon on the 15th. I had to prepare to file on paper because of the Bad Gateway problem. I think a refund would be appropriate based on this experience.

Scanning mistakes and server issues

I bought this to replace TurboTax and I did save money and ultimately my return was filed. That was not without problems. Photo scanning for W2 was inconsistent, worked some of the time. After submitting my sons' returns, mine did not transfer, your servers had a problem for over 12 hours! I was finally able to transmit when I got home (5 pm).
I use this software because it's easy, accurate and I can import last year's data easily. The only drawback is that High Sierra OS on Mac is not supported any more, even though there is no evident change in the software. I had to migrate everything to my Windows 10 computer. If 10 becomes unsupported, I will change software brands before I buy a new computer just to do my taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I've used Block software for several years and it generally gets me through all the steps and finds deductions I don't know about. I have always been satisfied and will most likely continue using it. This year, I had to do a return for my wife's recently deceased parents, and I thought some of the guidance for that was a little vague, but maybe that was my own ignorance.
I have used this for several years and find it is great for federal return. However, on my Alabama , it for some reason defaulted to refund of overpayment and ehen I changed it to apply to 2024, it would change but then default back to refund. Thus I was forced to do refund and then add that much to estimate payment. This needs to be improved on for next tax season
