I've used HR Block tax software for years and it improves every year. My only critique is that some options still require a fairly deep amount of tax law knowledge. Like one of the entries that I almost missed this year when I was doing taxes for my deceased mother was to put an entry in for the Perkins Law. I had no clue what that was and I couldn't tell by he retirement paperwork that was a field I needed to do something with. Fortunately, I was able to catch it before sending in our paperwork.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Bad gateway error.. then get email saying it was accepted but software still shows not submitted.. I should get a refund son my purchase! So is it really submitted and accepted'

Worked well, except was unable to recover previous year's taxes easily. Problems could be related to using iMAC. Print problems: text 3X or greater in size. Data drop: data not saved requiring full reentry after update. Was able to recover 2022 data thru IRS link in three tries. No easy save and exit to get out of program.

E-File Nightmare

Software works fine but e-file process has been a nightmare. Currently have the email notification of file and acceptance but the software doesn't think the return has been e-filed.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

This is a far cry from when this was Kiplinger's product. Every year it gets slighty worse then the previous year. Even this review won't allow a hyphen to be entered for God's sake

Software was glitchy this year and had issues getting home address to complete forms. I was concerned I'd have to mail them in instead of Efile because I was having to override some of the forms. It has worked fine in previous years. This year was disappointing and takes taxes which are already frustrating and makes it even worse. I would look into Turbo Tax next year.
