We are retired with no mortgage expense and based on our income we will always be better off with the standard deduction. Why can't we just have the option to skip all the deduction questions and skip straight to "standard deduction"? I'm thinking about going back to paper, it would be faster and results would be the same. Also, whenyou get to error correction, why can't you just pree a button and go to the appropriate form to make the correction.

Terrible filing online

This product was terrible filing federal return online. Kept saying it failed to file but received confirmation emails from HR Block that the return was filed, then that the return was accepted by the IRS. Payment was due with return and chose to pay with credit/debit card and still have not been able to make the payment as the software still thinks the return has not even been transmitted or received. Will not use the software for future years and don't recommend

I've been using the H&R Block tax software for a number of years so I went with it again for the 2023 tax year. As usual, I spent more time collecting and organizing the paper input documents than I did entering the data.
I have used H&R Block deluxe for years. Now that we are older and have virtually no deductibles ( file with simple 1040 form) this software zooms thru our tax preparation. I think I finished in 10 minutes.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Federal e-file not working

Terrible experience…..bad gateway error when trying to e-file federal return. Tried many times and still receive this error. Now I get an email saying the return has been accepted however the software says it’s still not filed so I can’t check the status!
Cons: Hard to prepare

Used the product for years with no complaints. This year for the first time used e-file, owing some money, and was greatly disappointed. The process requires you to submit your return electronically and await IRS acceptance. Then you pay what you owe. When I saw there is 2.59% charge added to the amount you owe, I was very surprised. I'm not sure if that was identified prior to submission but it rendered the e-file process, because of the surcharge, a poor decision.
