Horribly Buggy Software - time find alternatives

I installed the software on one PC and loaded all of my tax information. The software got stuck in an update loop where it would continually ask to install updates but the updates would not actually install. Lack of updates prevented me from filing. I also could not uninstall the program and reinstall. I finally installed the software on a second PC just before filing and that worked. Very buggy software reminiscent of Windows programs from 20 years ago. Horrible customer experience - it took more time to deal with software issues than it did to load my tax information for filing.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used h&r block software for my taxes for years. It has always been easy to use and I have never had a problem with the IRS when filing this way. I have recommended the software to others and will continue to use it year after year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Easy to use

This is my 5th year of using this program. Ran into a glitch when filing this year as Social Sec. had 2 birthdates listed under my account. Because of this, I hade to go to the SS Office and get one b-day removed. Six attempts to file and finally the IRS accepted my tax form. Otherwise, I have never had anything but an easy-to-use experience with my H&R e-filings.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Extremely disappointed

This software performed to my expectations until I needed it to correctly calculate my penalty using form 2210 as I had made my estimated payment 10 days late. This was not correctly implemented as it kept wanting to use the default of the entire period to 15 April or 91 days. This forced me to over ride their calculations with the correct ones. Now I’m forced to mail the return instead of e-filing. And forget any support to fix their error. Best I can tell from online reviews this error has existed for some time. Ugh.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

State Filing NEVER works

I've used H&R Deluxe + State for about 10 years now, and the state return NEVER files electronically. Some ridiculous error about the PDF attachments not working. I would think you would have fixed this problem years ago.....

Doing my taxes is easy.

My taxes are somewhat difficult with my investments, but H&RB makes it easy. Only 3 stars for expertise because a form was ommited on my state return, had to fill it out by hand and mail my state tax forms.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
